Make-up lesson - Karen Hall
Karen Hall is a fabulous make-up artist. She takes people to A+++ on air! I'm so luck to have had a make-up lesson from her!
Tips I loved
Blush: Start at the hallow part of your cheek not the apple. Work your way down. Blend up into the face to allow for contouring.
Highlighting: Add a little brush or bronzer to where the sun hits. A slight stroke will add depth to the face. Places to hit: outside above the brow, top of the forehead in an upside-down small triangle to the middle, on top of the nose and under the jaw.
Lips: Line the lips from the outside and work in. ONLY use lip gloss on the center of your lips. When gloss goes to the outside it bleeds the line of your lips.
Eyes: JET BLACK eyeliner only. Add darker neutral color to the hood of the eye right under the brow bone to give more depth to the eyes.
Neck: Use a slight combo of blush and bronzer
My tips that I use everyday!
If you are in the mood for a lesson for day, night, work, on-air make-up get a lesson from Karen Hall.
I'm getting the hang of re-creating the look! It's taking some time, but it has made a HUGE difference!

Pinterest Interest – For the Home
Here are the favorite Pins of my "For the Home" board.
- Super simple to make! This pinner has a great way to keep the sink smelling fresh. Salt, Baking Soda, Dish Soap, Lemon Juice and Lemon Zest and sweet scented sink here I come. No baking just making and putting in container. MUST DO!
Bathroom/Powder-room
- Put all your little color somethings together! I have a TON of little nail polishes and there is a perfect solution to make use of their size and color. Find a cute glass container that fits the theme of your room. Take all the little goodies and give them a new home! I prefer containers without a top for easy grab and go use. To make the containers stand out scour a second hand store for vintage pieces that are a perfect match.
In Home Spa
- Make a spa in any room you want. Combine the elements of earth, water, fire and air into one serenity accent piece. Choose one glass fixture to make your creation. Place stones at the bottom, secure a artifical flower in the mix, add water to the desired height. Place a candle in the water and wait for it to float. When ready, light the candle and expereince the elements of peace in whatever room you are in.
Picture Perfect
- This pin allows for multiple options in hanging your photos in the same space. Any size frame with shelves without, long or short, big or small you name it there is an option. A great pin if there is a wall perfect for frames of the family and friends!

Behind the Booth
Well I was super nervous and jittery but I made it through.
To take a step back, one of the more stressful jobs on our show is that of the
executive producer. This is the person who times out the segments and keeps the
flow of the conversation going. Finally, it was my turn to put on the black
headset, press a few buttons and produce a segment… or three.
As the only one in the office that day, there wasn’t a
choice if I could produce the segments. Nope it was more of a, “If Ron is off
and Char is our then who does that leave? Oh… ME!” situation.
Here is out it works out. Each segment it given a
predetermined amount of time. My job is to make sure we hit under or not more
than 5 seconds over that time. I have a sheet I with questions that I need to
prompt the host to ask. She has to listen to me for the next question, while
keeping the conversation going with the guest. Her job is hard. I’m there to
make sure everything flows smoothly; we get in all the talking points and come
out close to the time. No pressure. J
Thank goodness our host, Lisa Haffner, is awesome. She just
needs the questions and a 1-minute cue. Seriously, she gets really close to
being exactly one minute.
The first one was a little rough. We had a testimonial video
that we weren’t sure how long it took or where is should go. Second time
around, I got when the best time for me to cue with time and questions was.
Oddly enough right after she asks the previous question while the guest is
responding. Third time, the segment basically ran itself. Graphics, video,
questions time all came together in this neat little package.
Executive producing in the booth was an interesting and
thrilling experience. Did I mention our show does not have room for do-overs? If
we can help it the segments all must be taped in one shot. That definitely
raises the stakes for everyone and we all try to achieve first time perfection.
